What to Expect After Signing Up

  • Once you've signed up your child, their coaches will contact you with details about practice times, locations, and other need-to-know information. Teams usually begin practicing 2-3 weeks before the official season starts. Don't worry if you see other teams practicing before yours - not all teams start at the same time. If you haven't heard from the coaches by the start of practice, check your Sports Engine account or contact the administrator at ssfsoccer1@gmail.com.

Uniforms

  • Your child will receive a uniform kit that includes a jersey, shorts, and socks. These will be distributed by your coach or team manager.

Games Schedule

  • Games are played only on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Game times may vary depending on season and field availability.

Practices

  • Teams typically have one to two practices per week, lasting for 45 min to one hour each depending on age group. Practices are usually held at Orange Park turf, orange park natural grass, Alta Loma Middle School, or Terrabay.

What should I bring to my child’s practices and games?

  • Shin guards (required), soccer shoes, a soccer ball, uniform (games only) and water. Also, bringing a well rested, well hydrated, nutritionally balanced child with a positive attitude and willingness to learn is highly recommended!

Is it OK for players to wear jewelry during practice and games?

  • No. Jewelry of any kind (necklaces, watches, earrings, rings, bracelets, etc.) cannot be worn during practice or games. Wearing of jewelry voids coverage for Soccer Accident Insurance (SAI), and leaves players at risk.
  • There is an exception for Med-Alert bracelets, but they must be completely covered with tape or a soft cloth band for the safety of your child and all the other players..

What is the duration of games?

  • U6 U7/8 plays (4) 10 min quarters with max of 5 min breaks
  • U9/10+  plays 20 to 30 min halves with 10 min break

Can my special needs child enjoy soccer?

Late Registration Notification

  • If you register your child late for a division that has not yet reached its capacity, they will be placed on a team soon after the registration form is received. If you don't hear back right away, it likely means the division is full and your child will be added to a waiting list.
  • Teams are formed based on the number of players who register during the open registration period. Every effort is made to accommodate all players on a first-come, first-served basis, with the exception of children of coaches and referees who complete their training on time.
  • If a spot opens up on a team after the first game, you will most likely be contacted. If you haven't heard anything by then, you can email the registrar at ssfsoccer1@gmail.com for an update.
